EDI Advance Ship Notice (856)

Tatum Consulting may send EDI 856 sales shipping notifications to your clients. The Standard Pack (SOIP), Pick and Pack (SOPI), and No Pack formats are all present in the file structure. Tatum Consulting offers EDI export of shipment alerts to your clients. The Advance Ship Notice, or ASN, is the transaction in question. Another name for it is an EDI 856 transaction

Usually, the Tatum Consulting Package Manager or the shipping workstation interface (such as FedEx or UPS) are used to create the cargo. Three formats are supported in the Tatum Consulting ASN export. Over the course of your EDI implementation, you will learn more about these formats. The arrangement and timing of the rows in the transaction are referred to as the format. Please review the papers that are linked below for each ASN format.

  • Standard Pack - One SKU per carton, referred to as SOIP
  • Pick and Pack - Multiple SKUs per carton, referred to as SOPI
  • No Pack - Items are listed without carton information
